Delgado Community College Workforce Division is partnering with Generation to offer the IT Help Desk Technician program, a 12-week course that prepares participants for the CompTIA Fundamentals and A+ Certification and all skills necessary to obtain a job in this position.  Generation is a non-profit organization that trains individuals for high-demand professions, provides them with social support services, and connects learners with employers or continuing education upon graduation.

The Lead Instructor position works for Delgado and will be trained to deliver the Generation curriculum.  You are knowledgeable about industry trends in IT and able to share your own personal insight with students You love to inspire diverse groups of learners and genuinely want to help groups of learners acquire technical skills, behavioral skills, mindsets, and employment coaching that will make them valuable employees in the tech sector.

 

DURATION:      14 WEEKS

SCHEDULE:        40 HRS/WEEK

LOCATION:        Virtual

RATE:               $30/hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

      Deliver engaging online synchronous modules to a diverse group of learners and guiding them in their asynchronous (independent learning) modules.

      Host live video conferences 2-3 times/day for 50 students, with support of two Teaching Assistants.

      Deliver all technical, behavioral, mindset, and employment essential lessons.

      Work with Teaching Assistants to deliver high-quality, personalized learning experience for participants.

      Administer, grade, and provide feedback on weekly assessments.

      Support Generation’s data-driven model by tracking and inputting (in Salesforce/ Canvas) participant attendance and performance in class and on assessments.

 

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

●      CompTIA A+ Certification or ability to gain certification prior to hire. 

●      At least 2 years teaching/facilitation experience required; experience with digital/e-learning preferred

●      At least 2 years of industry experience working in information technology.

●      Mastery of the CompTIA A+ Hardware and software content and the ability to teach the content to a young adult population with little previous IT experience.

●      Experience teaching adults and/or extensive knowledge of current trends and issues in adult education

●      High level of comfort about communicating to large and small groups of people and have a desire to coach and guide learners in an empathetic manner.

Ability to collect and analyze participant data that will influence participant interactions
