Position Overview
Propeller is seeking an energetic and proactive professional to support Propeller’s Programs Team as it expands its work in supporting a more inclusive entrepreneurship ecosystem that facilitates equitable access to capital for entrepreneurs of color. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Community Economic Development, the Senior Capital Access Manager will lead the successful deployment of debt financing through the $1 million Propeller Social Venture Fund, oversee our portfolio of borrowers, lead strategic planning efforts for access to capital programming, and connect entrepreneurs to capital sources to grow their businesses and impact. This position will also work closely with fellow members of the Programs Team.

Major Responsibilities & Outcomes

Social Venture Fund Management

  • Build relationships with and guide prospective borrowers representing Propeller’s focus areas of community economic development, education, food, health, and water through the application process.
  • Serve on the Social Venture Fund (SVF) Investment Committee and oversee team and consultants for recruitment of borrowers, fund deployment, portfolio management, fund operations, and relationships with partners and investors.
  • Responsible for monitoring and control of the fund including the development and maintenance of support plans for each borrower to ensure timely repayment of loan.
  • Work closely with Foundation for Louisiana staff to ensure timely communication and execution of fund administrative/accounting tasks.
  • Maintain regular communication and engagement with borrowers, fund consultants, and committee members.
  • Responsible for managing all technical assistance for borrowers as needed.
  • Provide quarterly reports to the investment committee.
  • Lead fundraising efforts on future Social Venture Funds.


Access to Capital Strategic Planning

  • Lead short and long term strategic planning on programming and policy initiatives to best support Propeller Alumni in accessing capital.
  • Conduct research on lending markets and innovative initiatives to increase access to capital opportunities for communities of color; analyze and utilize research to inform organization-wide access to capital strategy.
  • Engage, inform and cultivate the local funder community and financial institutions.


Impact Accelerator

  • Assist with curriculum development of components related to accessing capital.
  • Facilitate sessions educating entrepreneurs on how to prepare and where to access funding or loans for their business.
  • Serve as a connection between entrepreneurs and lending institutions.
  • When necessary, manage program experience of assigned ventures and work closely with their Lead Mentors on tracking progress and delivering relevant resources to ensure stated goals are met.

  • Knowledge of strategies for equitable financing mechanisms.
  • Ability to effectively work collaboratively with a team and independently to complete projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in utilizing detail-oriented planning and organization strategies to achieve goals.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge + 5-7 years of experience, or Master’s or equivalent knowledge + 3-5 years of experience and 1-3 years of supervisory experience.
